Rev. Carol Macaulay (Minister of Worship and Music) and her daughter, Daniela Landolfi (Cantor), have been making music together since Daniela was five. As the choral director at the Manhattan School of Music’s Preparatory Division and Director of the traveling children’s opera chorus, the Vagabonds Children’s Ensemble, Carol directed the choral programs and prepared operatic children’s choruses in which Daniela performed. Years later, Daniela became the voice that Carol composed for, notably the Called into Worship Resource Book and CD, as supported by a Lilly grant. Most recently, Carol and Daniela have collaborated in the music design for worship services – first at Bellevue Christian Church and now at Edmonds Christian Church. Daniela’s first assay into the role of Cantor was as the lead voice and soloist in Carol’s “postmodern contemplative” worship service, the Omega Circle (explore at http://web.archive.org/web/20030220113800/http://www.omegacircle.org/ ). She continued in that role at the denominational pre-General Assembly worship event in July of 2005, as she and Carol offered conference attendees an experience of “postmodern contemplative worship” as well as a workshop on that model. They continue to collaborate on a weekly basis, assisted by other team members and the choir. You can hear Daniela as vocalist on the CD, Getting Closer, that Carol produced for the Rock House Church Network (hear 15 sound clips at http://www.therockcc.us/shopping/closer.htm ).
