The Woodland Labyrinth 2004
The
Disciple
Chalice Designed by Ruth Jewell, Edmonds, WA (a variant of the Chalice Labyrinth)
Below is a copy of Ruth's letter to me
that was deeply appreciated.
Nine finger labyrinths were given as mementos to the 9 individuals who worked so hard to install our newly completed in-ground labyrinth, which we named The Woodland Labyrinth [see bottom of this page for pictorial link] . I wanted something that would represent all that hard work as well as something each individual could use as part of their prayer life when they can't walk the Woodland Labyrinth. Since the members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) are sometimes called the People of the Chalice, your design was perfect. The Disciple Chalice with broken bread in the center is a symbol of our communion with Christ and a reminder that we may meet Him here at the center. The finger labyrinth pictured is 16 inches wide (I have also made a 12 inch version) and is painted on cream muslin with a green print border which represents the woodland area around our Woodland Labyrinth. I want to thank you for offering such a wonderful design and wanted to show you what I did with it. Shalom Ruth A Jewell |
